Aerobic classes are a great way to get started on your fitness journey, change up your routine, or simply increase your stamina, endurance, and energy. The Kaweah Health Lifestyle Fitness Center offers workouts for all levels of fitness with no prior knowledge or experience needed. Our certified and professional instructors will coach you through each exercise move, demonstrate proper form, and provide feedback on your technique to reduce the risk of injury. The motivation, camaraderie, and fun you experience while taking an aerobics class will help prevent boredom and keep you on track to achieving your health and fitness goals.
Classes We Offer
A variety of group exercise classes are offered each week at our Visalia fitness center, using our two exercise studios equipped with state-of-the-art aerobic floor and stereo equipment. Classes range from beginning, intermediate, and advanced levels and are included with membership. Monthly class schedules with times, days, location, and class descriptions are available at the control desk located in the facility.
Class Descriptions
All classes are 55 minutes unless otherwise noted. These classes require participants to be on time. For safety reasons, you will not be permitted to participate in Yoga or Pilates if more than 5 minutes late. Please be considerate and refrain from entering scheduled classes while in session.
Our classes include:
- A1 Care Live Well with Diabetes: A referral from your doctor or an Exercise Physiologist at The Kaweah Health Lifestyle Fitness Center is required to participate. Participants need to bring their glucose monitor with them to each class. This 30-minute class includes a warm-up, stretching, and a pre-established independent exercise routine. A Fitness Profile/ Program Design is required prior to starting class.
- Barre Above This format fuses the best of pilates, yoga, aerobic and elements of strengthening exercises that dancers utilize. Barre Above delivers a result driven workout that is not only fun and dynamic, but will sculpt your body into amazing shape!
- Breathing Easy (Pulmonary Rehab Phase II): Following graduation from phase I Pulmonary Rehab, or with admission via doctor’s referral, you can proceed with guided, monitored exercise beneficial for pulmonary patients with the help of our professionally trained staff
- Cardio Strength: 3-5 minutes of cardiovascular and 3-5 minutes of sculpting utilizing the step along with various equipment for strengthening and conditioning your core.
- Cycle Circuit: Combination of cardiovascular intervals of cycling with intervals of weight resistance training. Guaranteed to give you a great full-body work out.
- Cycle/ Core: Cycling class that includes a cardiovascular and endurance segment and ends with core training
- Cycling: Cardiovascular and endurance class using a stationary cycle. Appropriate for all fitness levels as intensity is individually controlled.
- F. I. T. (Fitness Interval Training): Get a workout for your entire body with F.I.T., which combines strength training with cardiovascular intervals. This class will focus on challenging balance, stability, and core strength while using various equipment like gliders, resist-a-balls, and BOSU balls. Consider this class if you are looking to strengthen and condition your core
- Healthy Heart (Cardiac Rehab Phase III): Following graduation from cardiac rehab Phase II, or with admission via doctor’s referral, cardiac rehab patients and other members with special cardiovascular needs can attend this class to increase their heart health. It includes a blood pressure check, stretching, choice of cardiovascular exercise, and weight resistance exercises. A fitness evaluation is required prior to participating in this class
- Instructor’s Choice: This class incorporates a wide variety of aerobic and strength training activities. The instructor will choose from the following formats: R.I.P.P.E.D, P.U.M.P, 20/20/20, Tabata, Circuit or Box-N-Kick
- Jiu-Jitsu (Adult): A self-defense oriented martial arts class, which emphasizes techniques including balance, leverage, deflecting attacks, maintaining proper positioning and escape holds.
- Jiu-Jitsu (Junior): Children ages 5 to 15 years will learn the basic fundamental techniques of Brazilian Jiu-jitsu with emphasis on improving balance and flexibility.
- Karate (Advanced): Designed for students in ranks green belt and above. Focus included advance sparring and conditioning.
- Karate (Beginning): A traditional Japanese self-defense class designed for ages 8 and older. Students learn combination of punches, kicks, and basic take downs.
- Karate Instruction Seminar: First and third Sunday of the month-this class will cover proper techniques of kihon, kihon ido, and kata application in kumite. Brown and black belts of all karate styles are welcome.
- Kobudo: Traditional Okinawan weapons class intended for ages 8+. Pre-requisite; one month (+ongoing participation) in beginner/advance karate class.
- Low Impact: Start slow in aerobics with this lower intensity class for those just starting or resuming aerobic activities
- Osteo-Pilates: Pilates Mat class emphasizing basic Pilate's principles such as breathing technique, neutral pelvis and spine, and fundamental exercises. Accommodates beginners and those with osteoporosis.
- Intermediate/Advanced Pilates: Mat class emphasizing Pilate's principles and exercises. Class pace and exercise accommodates intermediate and advanced abilities. Props will be used to enhance the workout. Note recommended for those with a history of back or neck injuries.
- PIYO: A combination of Pilates and Yoga, this exercise helps make use of the muscle-building and toning advantages of Pilates while enhancing flexibility, strength, and mobility of Yoga. This low-impact class can help burn fat and improve muscle definition
- Pure Strength: This full- body-conditioning workout uses bands, hand weights and Body Bars to enhance muscle definition, strength and muscular endurance.
- S3-20-20-20: Workout class consisting of 20 minutes of cycling, 20 minutes of strength training and 20 minutes of stretching.
- Senior Fitness: For those looking for a lower intensity aerobics class, our senior fitness class can help achieve fitness for seniors or those with limited physical abilities
- SilverSneakers Classic (Formerly Sit-N-Be-Fit): Designed to increase muscle strength, range of movement and improve activities for daily living. A chair is used for seated exercises and standing support and class can be modified depending on fitness levels.
- Yoga (Restored): Beginning level blend of mediation with relaxing postures designed to soften the muscles and relax the body.
- Yoga: Give your body a boost in strength and flexibility with this 75-minute class of specific Hatha style yoga. Our instructors incorporate different poses to explore the inner structures of the body, mind, and spirit. Please note, you will not be permitted to enter this class if more than five minutes late
- Zumba: Have fun learning to dance to Latin and other international music with routines featuring interval training principles set to fast and slow rhythms. Consider this class to help tone and sculpt the body and maximize fat burning potential
Group Exercise Etiquette
At The Kaweah Health Lifestyle Fitness Center, we strive to make sure each one of our members has a pleasant, positive experience. By observing the following guidelines when attending a group exercise class, you can help our workout remain rewarding and enjoyable.
To ensure all group exercise classes remain free from hindrances and distractions:
- Please be on time. Warming up is important to avoid injury. If you arrive late, please warm up prior to entering the class
- Please be considerate of other’s exercise space. Avoid crowding in front of a member who has arrived in class before you
- Please keep conversation to a minimum. It’s important to listen to the instructors for guidance and safety concerns
- Refrain from entering the studio before the preceding class has finished
- Please refrain from setting up spin bikes or other equipment more than 15 minutes prior to class.
- We strongly suggest that you do not use hand weights during the aerobic portion of class. Weights increase strain on the heart and can cause ligament and joint damage when used during rapid motions
- Please wear appropriate attire. Shirts, shorts, sweat suits, leotards, workout tights and non-marking athletic shoes must be worn in all areas of The Kaweah Health Lifestyle Fitness Center at all times. Open toed shoes such as sandals, jeans or cutoffs are not permitted. Clothing that is determined to be profane, offensive or distasteful is prohibited and may be required to be changed/removed while using the facility
- Please refrain from eating or drinking in the aerobic studios. Water bottles are acceptable
- Please avoid wearing cologne or perfume to class
